Just this morning I've had the GT inspected for it's MSA rally log book, entry is in for the Killarney Historic in 3 weeks.

S'funny - at the NEC yesterday I was more interested in a really nice aqua 1970 Clubman than any other Cooper stuff.

So, Killarney historic.

Never have I felt so much pressure in the last week, trying to finish car whilst not feeling at all well.
Still had little jobs to do even before scrutiny and managed it. I was a little late on the first road section to the first stage, Molls Gap. You should look YouTube, it's like a 10 mile hillclimb, parts of the road have a rock face on one side and a little wall on the other.
Some miles in, I caught an avenger, he was very good and moved out of the way, but then i caught a Lotus Cortina, on a wide fast section but couldn't get past. Held me up drastically through a chicane. Next obstacle was a Saab 99 that had bounced off the rock face, the crew appeared to be fine, Saab trashed though.

Stage completed, big smiles from the crew, big road section completed to next stage, which was a bumpy tarmac lane, real mini territory. I was being careful but getting the hang of it fine, eventually came off the lane onto a wider straight road, and a valve has tipped a piston again. Game over.

So, disappointed, but have learned some things. Fun while it lasted.

Looks good by the way.

My 1970 1275 GT project also has an NP plate - WNP 366J - I think originally supplied by a dealer in the Brighton area...

My old 1275GT - LHK497J, has recently had a keeper change. I sold it in utter disgust in 1992. Nothing but aggro.
