Sunters are local legends here and were based in Northallerton, they were one of the first heavy hauliage companies. Loads on the web about them if anyone is interested. Remember them going through town on a regular basis as a nipper

In my early days we had old Wartime Diamond T's and later the post-war, early 50's Scammell recovery tractors (05 BD 90 type numbers) which could just about manage to pull a trailer loaded heavy Conqueror. Mind you, a Centurion was easy! Then came the big 'mighty' Antars that we used to say could take all the stone for Stonehenge from Wales to Stonehenge - in one trip! What lovely nostalgic photos.... Thanks all....., all made my day!

If I remember rightly Mr Sunter had a gull wing Mercedes sl300, and there was some rivalry with Sir Robert Ropner who drove Jaguars which may explain why he used a Dtype as a road car!
