Loads of links to photographs from the day on my Sporting Minis Facebook page and on the Prescott Speed Hillclimb group page.

A joy to watch on the live stream....thanks for organising Pete.....the DEWS mini club had similar scrutiny when they first visited..... they didn't accept some race licences.......

Really glad you enjoyed it Andy and that so many rally boys supported it.

A quick side Question.....

Are we talking about Derick Wilkins not being allowed to run his GTM due to a roll age infringement / disagreement ...?

My reasons for asking, I’ll be having my cage fitted to mine this year.

Yes it is Derek’s car that wasn’t allowed to run as it was ‘missing’ a rear diagonal despite having been to other numerous events ok.

Loved the live stream. Haven't seen live Hill Climb since watching it at Pontypool Hill Climb back in the early 70's.

Here's my friend Speedy cocking a leg on his way to a Class win.

Best thing to do is work out what class you want to run in. The look what's allowed in the motorsport UK Bluebook under sprints and hillclimb.

Because this GTM has gone from having a diagonal to forward bracing to not having a diagonal

It you are unsure just call or email Motorsport UK. The advice they give you is final as that's what the scrutineers work from. (Save the email and take it to events even if you want)
The only things that has Extra restrictions is things like HRCR adding their own classes by year so limited to modifications by year. Apart from rollcage safety

Here's a copy of the mail I have just sent to Prescott. I wonder how long they will keep me waiting for my refund?

Dear Sirs,

Following the telephone call received on the afternoon of the 21st & the subsequent decision to exclude my car and scratch the attedance of myself (Mark Forster Car 77 & my Son Adam Forster Car 79) of the Prescott Mini festival. I am writing to inform you that despite assurances from Gemma, that a refund would be issued immediately, I have not received the promised refund of our two entry fees.

As you have had these payments since the day entries opened I would appreciate their prompt return.

In view of the fact a good friend of mine only managed to obtain a similar refund from the Bugatti Owners Club after 6 months of being messed about, I would appreciate it if you could confirm receipt of this mail & the date I can expect my refund.

Yours faithfully,

Mark S Forster.

Cracking day out on Saturday. It was a very impressive number of minis to be competing together, Shame that some couldn't run but I think it has the making of a fantastic event.
The rally boys were good entertainment, especially Ryan Taylor 'pulling the lever' to get around Pardon!
Many thanks to Pete for organising it.

Enjoyed watching the event "live" on YouTube, but the commentator was apparentlynot in his comfort zone...

Ryan Talor (No. 61?) was my absolute favourite 8-) 8-)
Yes I am a nerd: I am researching the Austrian Mini-racing scene of the 60s and 70s :ugeek:

I agree the live commentary was amusing at times but as others have said I think he did his best after hearing he had to stand in at the last minute to do his entertaining best with what little Mini knowledge he had for the event. I am sure most of us would not be able to do any better if suddenly presented with a field of assorted variants of Bugatti's at short notice....

We can forgive the Mini knowledge. But.....when approaching the Bridge, the vehicles speed is registered on screen- he was referring it to as time, and he just couldnt work out why cars with a quick 60ft acceleration had a higher ' time' than those with slower 60ft accel times. Ummm.....doesnt that get the old grey matter working - He was most bemused.

I think just lacking brain power tbh - shocking !

A fun day out though. 1st drive to an event in what seems like forever.

Get in touch with Derek. His roll cage is very well constructed. The GTM which was allowed to compete is a later model. Derek consulted scrutineers before having his cage fabricated. I think the GTM which competed was moved to class 1?
Many, many years ago when I was a navigator they introduced rules about the height of auxiliary lights. The scrutineer was going to exclude us until I pointed out that he was measuring from the top of the kerb not the road surface!!!! Youth.

Thank you all for your replies on Derick’s roll cage.

I know Derick and nick well, and contacted them asking them about what happened but I haven’t had a reply from them yet.

My inderstanding with regards to cage legality in a Cox or later GTM coupe was that it was the same situation as the lotus Elise.

You can either put rear braces (back stays) through the body work turning your nice looking car into something that resembles a rednecks pick-up
Or...

use a diagonal petty bar from the drivers side portion of the roll hoop downwards to the passenger foot well.

I emailed on Monday about my refund. I received a reply yesterday saying I would have to phone the office. I did, the person I needed to speak to "wasn't there" but they would phone me back later that day. They didn't. I am still waiting.

Will post next instalment when it happens.

Thanks. It looks good but the footwell diagonal would be a problem for the navigator. Is it removable like the rear diagonals on 6 point cages?

...Yes it’s removable, but not sure why you would want to try to squeeze a navigator in for Hillclimb ... ;) ;)
