Getting there slowly but surely,is that a red RSP I see going by the wheel.

@JavaGT. Those wheels are a bit of a giveaway. Yes, it is an RSP which was going to be my next project, but my plan has backfired a little bit. It needs major surgery in the inner wing / crossmember areas Once the Woody is fully finished and on the road I'll have to take stock of my future projects and make a decision on what next to do.

Well, at long last the power unit has finally been finished and brought home.

The gearbox has been the main problem. The original plan was to build up a "good" box out of a selection of gear boxes I had hanging around.
This was duly done, after scrapping 2 casings, but then I found a close ratio gearset in another of my boxes, probably a 1275 GT.
So, start the build again by putting the A series gearset into the A+ casing. That's when another problem raised it's ugly head.
The case hardening on the 3rd gear had worn off despite the rest of the gear being in good condition.
I found another 3rd gear, but that too had the same case hardening wear. An associate eventually found a good gear and so the marathon gear box build could finally be finished.

Next job is to trial fit all the ancillaries to make sure things line up, etc etc. then give the unit a final lick of rattle can and plonk it in it's hole.

At long last the motor is in it's hole. There's been a bit of "Okey Cokey" action with the engine, getting things to line up and checking clearances etc.
Today the motor had it's final coat of rattle can and due to the previous "practice" the "final" dropping in of the motor went easily. I didn't even have to tilt the motor as in previous goes.





Things are a bit tight with the rad though.



The "alternative" rear engine mount..



I gave the motor a good shaking to test the new engine mounts and I have to say, compared to the original mounting set up this alternative (ADO 16) system is a definite improvement.

Nice work, the alternative engine mount works well dos'nt it, you won't have any problems with engine rock with that in place, keep the pictures coming, its great to see the progress from when you collected it.

Thank you Pete. I was going to fit an extra lower bracket to the front of the sub frame / clutch housing, but it doesn't really warrant it.

Here's the front ADO 16 type mount all bolted together.

Is that a Minispares 2 core alloy rad?

Indeed it is. It's a C- ARA 5000 type. Not used in anger yet, but should be on the road in a couple of weeks, hopefully.

@ Jens. It's a Powerlite. Thought I'd give it a go because the Brize ones have had some poor reviews lately. Then again, it seems the Powerlite ones aren't perfect either. Ho Hum.

I have a Brize on my race Min

One half of the woodwork is now glued and screwed ready for another sanding before the Danish oil is applied. It's taken me about 4 days of cutting, sanding, trimming etc to get the wood to somewhere near a tidy fit.



The "bottom" half of the other side is glued and screwed.

Mhuffy is coming together well. I remember all too well first fitting the wood to my Traveller. Lots of fettling and sanding here and there to get it to fit perfectly. Need to resand mine down and lash on a few coats of Danish Oil again. Always looks good once a fresh coat is applied.

M-Machine do wood kits. They are excellent quality.

After a very busy weekend in the garage one side frame is now fixed to the Woody. This meant that the fuel tank could finally go in and with a bit of luck the motor can be started this week.
