“Rob Slotemaker finishes the 1964 Zandvoort Trophy in the Downton Engineering works Cooper S.
Affectionately known as ‘Sophie’ the car was often driven to the circuits.
Other guest drivers included John Rhodes and Timo Makinen.”

Random (well sort of) non Mini pic - I tend to go through phases with certain cars and the AC / Shelby Cobras keep coming around hovering into view, both the real ones and replicas, I just love the shape and proportions in all their guises....

Unfortunate co-incidence. Sadly the co-driver has died - a few days a go, aged 88.
RIP Val (Domleo) Morley.

BMC scandinavian export drive in full swing at Grimsby Kings Dock in 1962. The photograph taken from under the canopy in April 1962 is clearly a train from Longbridge with a mix of Austin A40's, Mini Saloons and commercial vans in the consist. The other view taken a few months later in July 1962 would appear to feature a train from Oxford (First wagon labelled : Carflat, return to Morris, Oxford) as the load includes Morris Minis, Minors, an MG Midget (May be a AH Sprite) with a Morris Oxford in mid air as it is craned onto Norwegian registered MV LAGNÖ (Built 1953, Scrapped 1982). Austin Minis line the quayside in the foreground.
