I am very tempted. Can you experts see anything obviously wrong with this set?Gareth Brandt wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 10:59 am Also in Swedenbmc-mini-cooper-s-reservdelar-16422-16940799431.jpeg

Yes I am a nerd: I am researching the Austrian Mini-racing scene of the 60s and 70s

Re: At The Auctions
Possibly used a few pots of this , they don’t look that big! Looks a nice car to be fair but spotted the hole on the front of the O/S sill which would usually mean further rot. Been flipped before through a dealer so must have been cheap to start with

Re: At The Auctions
The early GT's are fabulous.
You've seen one Mark 1 S and you've pretty much seen all of them. Bitsas with invented history and a thick layer of bullshit - it's bordering on tedious.
But these GT's......you can almost taste the history. They're the real thing.

Re: At The Auctions
Last weeks 'Bangers and Cash' auction episode on TV said 'barn find' cars fetch more money if they have a good layer of dust on them.
They also said sometimes they come back to auction a few weeks later cleaned up and sell for a lower price.....

I know what you mean, my Dad’s had a slightly mouldy Iced Gem stuck on the parcel shelf.Costafortune wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 5:34 pm The early GT's are fabulous.

Re: At The Auctions
Seems odd how there's so many 1275gt's up for sale at the moment, always seemed to be slim pickings.
I can only assume that now they are sort after behind early Coopers, people are taking the opportunity to cash in!

Re: At The Auctions
They’re just catching up on desirability. You couldn’t give a Clubman type Mini away years ago. There’s probably not many left. I bought a yellow 69 in the 1990s. We took the engine out with a torch and threw the rest in the bin.mini_surfari wrote: ↑Thu Sep 21, 2023 2:33 pm Seems odd how there's so many 1275gt's up for sale at the moment, always seemed to be slim pickings.

Re: At The Auctions
Now thee have been a couple of examples of Clubman GT's making Cooper S type money, it is inevitable that a few owners will choose to cash in.
Will they ever be as desirable as a good Cooper S, personally, I doubt it, but each to their own.

Re: At The Auctions
Anybody know anything about this one, other than its shell looks like its been well filleted before lots of new panels have been let in to rebuild the it.
Looks a nice one on the face of it

"Work carried out to the highest standard" "A matching set of Camac tyres". Tyres aside, that looks a decent car. Nice to see one with Hydrolastic retained too. Quite a fan of the Mk2.

Yes, I agree it could be the wrong bezel - good spot .
The actual speedo is right though. The rest of the car looks pretty correct I think, and skilfully restored
