Had a good night in the dust factory (garage) last night. After weeks and weeks of sanding, filling, sanding, filling we seem to be getting somewhere. The engine cover has come up really well and only needs a few spots tidying up before undercoat...

Looks like dad is doing all the work :lol: :lol: Andy , I have been avoiding my plastic pig body work , But got a stage were it needs doing arghhh.

Great progress Andy, look forward to seeing this! Apparently there'll be a Cox GTM out racing with HSCC/HRDC next year which would be great to see!

Now that the tubs, and soon the bodies, are available I'm sure we will see more COX/GTMs on track.

The little classes in HSCC have been poorly supported for a few years now, don't understand why, it must be cheaper to build a Turner or a Midget than a Elan?
HRDC is pre 66 is it not? I was told I could run my Heerey GTM (1971) in Swinging Sixties but the regs are too free for my tastes.
Be great to see some Cox's out though.

I do remember Julius talking about letting slightly later models into the A Series Challenge when it first started, they could do with the support! The HSCC 70s Roadsports championship gets bumper grids nowdays but still no 'slippy Minis!' :?

Yes I was told that, HRDC is quite costly though, HSCC roadsports was well supported in the little classes when my Father raced, we only ever saw one 'slippy mini ' though, a Unipower for one season, he won the championship! Considering how many Mini derived cars there are you would hope to see more...

I was talking to MED a short while ago about engine costs. I was told the average amount spent by a historic race series customer would be £20,000+

Now I would really love to enter a Cox in a historic race series, but thats never going to happen, well not with a price like that, its way out of my budget. :( and I think I earn a good wage.

So instead, I’m really looking forward to going to watch Gtm71 kick some poor unsuspecting, deep pocketed, 70’s roadsports entrants, and there more mainstream Racecars. 8-) 8-)

I’m afraid I’ll just keep doing track days and the odd RWYB drag strip days, and maybe a hillclimb.

I’m SO, jealous of those that can go racing. :cry: :cry:

Thanks for the confidence TC, I hope I can live up to it! I went to see AC Dodd yesterday to discuss engines and I think with a bit of luck we will get a really usable, reliable unit that won't cost a fortune to run, trouble with those top end motors is they also cost a lot to keep up. I need something to get me through the season and will stay together. There's a lot to learn!

Finally got my Cox home. Needs a ton of work, but tub is rust free. LHS A pillar has snapped at the base so that will need repair. I have a few questions.
1. What year/model would this be?
2. What rear lights do they have as standard?
3. Are front windscreens still available for them, and if so, from whom?

Hi, need to see a few more pictures, can we see a shot of the rear bodywork from behind the car, and some of the cockpit. Showing the gear-lever area and engine bulkhead.

The very early Cox had mini van lights, some had mk1 cortina, personally I prefer the mini van lights.

The screens are still available from Hambly sportscars.

Turbocox here are more pics. Holes for round lights at the back look too small for Cortina lights no? Where online can I find details on these cars? Sorry, I'm gate crashing what is a fascinating build thread.

Looks to me like a early Heerey GTM as it has the Cox front with spaceframe rear chassis, flat rear panel and single piece engine cover, 69/70 vintage. Nice find!

Regarding prices of race engines, yes, lots of people are spending 20 grand plus, but I know a few competitive cars / drivers who are spending A LOT LESS!
