Great idea.

Maybe we start with a list of what we know regarding changes.....then, some members may be able to fill in the approx. change date/s
Let me kick if off with a few of the changes that I know of....have no idea of the change dates.....sure there are many others.
Please add other changes to the list.

Just to wind up all you lot who think standard has to be best or otherwise its crap.. my GT is probably 75% Not Standard and i dont care because its the most comfortable Mini i have & the most Fun to Drive irrespective .. so there. :o
I suspect most on here are of an age that can remember when any "OLD" Mini was modified in Period to suit what the owner could afford to modify or he could find in a scrap yard to "Improve" his Mini .. I suspect that "YOU" did just that so can we just remember our youth .. in those ancient days you did not need to worry what profit could be made on your old Mini .. there were much better things to do ;)

Personally I have absolutely no problem with anybody modifying their car in any way they want. It is after all their car!

I think the issue is a different one - namely when a car is advertised (and priced) as being totally original or standard when clearly it is not - so, for example a 1970 car that has no 1970 parts on it at all - wrong shell, interior etc.

But in fact most of this thread is about the detail because it is what fascinates and obsesses many of us!

Couple of comments on page 16 of this thread

Wrong front seat frames, newton covers on later seats, wrong grill, no covering on rear companion box's,
Wrong rev counter i think ?

I suppose you could look at it two ways, could be an orginal that lost some of it's bits over the years and someone has tried to put it back to original or could be a total fabrication, would hope for the former :)

Yes it is a Wiltshire registration, the car has never been out of Swindon, it was supplied by G and K Barnes of Dauntsey near Swindon, a few of you may remember Gordon Barnes, he used to race a Cooper s back in the sixties , the car has only been owned by a brother and sister , both in their eighties and then me for the last 31 years, I have always done any work on the car since the warrantee ran out, I bought the car off of the old man ran into a curb stone that some kids had put in the middle of the road when it was dark, it only cracked the gearbox casing and broke a lug off the remote, so of course it was written off by the insurance and he was given £700 for the car but was allowed to keep the car, there was no other damage, there was no catageries then so the v5 is not marked, just seemed a shame to let it go for scrap even back then, even though it was only worth a few pennies.

Even if it was built from a V5 (I don't think it has) , so long is it's been well put together it's worth 15k or so.

I think for that price you could detail it up and it would be a great car to own.

Great information Colin thanks. So is it located in Aberdeen as per the Ebay advert or is that an error ?.
