It wouldn't surprise me, Jem had fingers in several pies back then. A while ago I was looking at buying a Marcos 1600 or 3000 GT and did some reading into the company, old Jem was a fascinating bloke, they don't make them like that anymore
Another couple of period images...

Does anyone know who the photographer of this would have been? I believe he did a lot of BMC's promotional photos. I read an interview with him where he said that if you got the girl to cover the part of the rego that dated it, you could get several years out of the same picture.

Is that a monotone crashed S just above the Broadspeed? Can't tell if it's a Mk1 or 2. LOOKS like a Mk1 (note the corner bar) but it's got a plain black interior.
God...... I feel like I'm becoming an anorak.......

They look like reverse rims, not S rims. I agree, the whole pic has an Aussie feel to it.
Horrendous crash though. If anyone got out alive then they were very, very lucky.

Spectator meets Lucien Bianchi Citroen near Nowra NSW 68 London to Sydney.
Mini driver suffered a lacerated hand when the wood steering wheel broke up... I think the passenger for a sprained ankle or somesuch. Citroen navigator didn't do so well....

......and an OO registered mini. Is OO a Kent reg number? If so, it's a long way from home! Could it be a Police Panda in that powder blue?

OO is not only a model railway gauge it is also an Essex registration identifier issued from Chelmsford in period. Check out images of the local works team cars of the period which were prepared in Boredom just along the road from Chelmsford before Stuart went rear wheel drive!
