Oh contraire! Richard Humphrey has kindly offered his excellent Britax Downton replica to do the honours. :)

Peter Baldwin can't make it as he's at Donington, though did want to come.

If anyone's delaying booking a track space I wouldn't leave it too long as there's only six spaces left for Sunday and eleven for Saturday.

That footage appeared on Youtube some years ago and as a result a DVD was released 'Dice With Spice' which also contains an interview with Gordon. You can still buy it from places like this:

You could get one signed at Blyton!

I got Gordon back in a Mini at CPOP a few years ago...

At the risk of turning into his agent, he also brought a book out 'Life Of Spice' in which he features his time at Downton, Arden and Coopers.

I think it's fair to say that (going off his performances in 1969) had the team selected the smaller 1000cc class to run in instead of an ambition for outright wins (and beat the Escorts) with 1293 Spice would most likely have become outright saloon champion. It was the team he'd just left (Arden) who were smart enough to make that choice and run 999cc (you can see Spice lapping Alec Poole in the clip) and hence it was they who won the championship outright in 1969. Spice finished 5th O/A and 2nd in class to Craft's Escort.

I think that could be arranged as parade laps, I wonder if they'd let us do that at the lunch halt on the Saturday. I'll ask, and also see if I can add to it (if James Palmer will bring Anita Taylor's Mini??) and I'm sure Whizzo would join in (if Tim brings his?) and Mike Wood could go in ORX 707G. If we got Paddy up, we could tow him round in GRX 309D!

 I think we'll need a pace car!

Another Downton employee in the form of works manager and prolific racer Barry Hawkins has confirmed to return this year, we'll have to find a Downton car to take him round.

Gordon Spice will have signed copies his 'Dice With Spice' DVD available to purchase at Blyton. The DVD is a film of the 1969 Crystal Palace round of the British Saloon Car Championship I'm sure you've seen about plus he'll also have signed copies of his book 'Life Of Spice' available on the day.

The Gordon Spice DVDs will be £10 and copies of his book will be £15, all available to be signed. Please let me know if these will be of interest for anyone to collect at Blyton. Gordon will be bringing a few up anyway.

James Palmer has offered to bring 110 NNM up to Blyton to be reunited with Anita Taylor. :)
