So just the two bolts / studs i'm struggling with everything else lines up great, the two at the top of the A panels nearest the door i cant get a socket it on, due to the amount of underseal / paint on the car, ive found a 1/4 size bolt with a smaller metric head like on a later radiator cowling so ill sort two of these to complete the job and nip it up to pull the door in a bit, looks ok with my old door seals too, but these are a bit past it, see if i can get them looking better.
Both doors were second hand, so i'm delighted with the way they fit, as those of you who have read the whole thread will realize I had a real headache with. I do believe the A panels are the originals, with the way everything lines up. The car needs to go back to the bodyshop soon so ill get them to finish off the final nip up and alignment.
Roll cage now fastened in as well, and trial fit with boot lid, just fitted for the purpose of the pic with some masking tape. Ive had some digits made for the number plate that hopefully will end up on the car (see earlier in thread)
Might just deserve some rose petals when funds allow .....

Lovely, and I have to say I like it on the minilites.
Are we at the stage already where it's "oh, that's a nice change from rose-petals"

Cheers guys, glad you like the wheel colour, i did want something a bit different, just looking at the start of my thread 11 months ago, i agreed to buy the car subject to seeing it nearly a year ago. The idea was to have it ready for Blyton !, well that's been and gone !, how many times do we start these projects and the deadline gets missed
So there is 268 days till Blyton 2016, (and 9 pay packets
) , and also a season of Hillcimb's, i've missed some "good do's" this year, the job list is getting shorter, but the budget has long gone
, the bulk of it on shell prep and paint.
I was pleasantly surprised though, on my return to Minis on what you could buy from Minispares, I spent many a happy hour compiling a list for Rich, and to be honest my money was well spent, buying every suspension / braking / steering / nut / bolt / clip / seal / it is well worth it, especially on this type of project, i do have everything to finish the car minus a built engine/box, ( I have a 1275 GT motor in bits, that is an absolute last resort) but then i need all the ancillaries, carbs etc.
So ill get the rest of the rolling shell finished over the coming months, and see how the engine developments come along
(unless anyone's got a nice Hillclimb / race unit with ancils hidden away ready to go, for sale ??)

Couple of days off, so bit of work done on the "60" , got the steering column fitted with an astrali wheel I found on ebay needs a bit of recon, but a nice wheel,
fitted my drivers seat, couldn't understand why it was so far back, after it fitted perfectly on the Mighty Mini, then realised i had the brackets the wrong way round,
got drivers door glass in and door handles and seals, fitted the rev counter once the seat was set up, had to drop it low in dash cause i'm a short arse !.
and moved the oil pressure gauge nearer me as the dash blocked out the gauge in its 3 clock set up, blanked that hole off, Moved switches for wipers then i can reach them with a harness on and fitted fuel pump and heater switches to dash pod too.
Wired up the boot lights and fuel pump, earth lead and fitted boot seal, had some blanks made to cover up the holes in the rear bulkhead and completed the fireproofing of the bulkhead , and that took me two days !!, in between bacon buttys and catching up with all the motorsport i had recorded on the sky box !, including the Mini festivals.

He is a big unit so maybe they won't be leaning on his car quite so much!

159 Days to Blyton and counting !, I've spent the last year trying to find a suitable race engine / box that wasn't gonna cost me zillions (as, if you read my posts you will know ), what I really wanted was an Historic Touring car spec motor but on a SC/CR box (not dog), on par with my budget (whats left !) I was struggling and I decided I would start to rebuild the 1275 GT motor I had under the bench, pop a head on it and just make do with the rod change gearbox that came with it (not very period) just for Blyton.
Then through the powers of this brilliant forum
, just as I had stripped the GT motor down, I got a "pm" through the forum and I've managed to now source all the bits to put together what I was looking for, for reasonable money
The build has now commenced, all the work on the short engine, cylinder head and sc/cr remote gearbox was already done by a reputable company so just needs putting together, I'll put the full spec up once I've got everything together, I have managed to persuade an old friend to put it together for me, he has built and rallied Minis since the 70's, now retired, but a proper old school engineer type !, if I can get somewhere near 95 / 100 at the wheels as on paper it should have, then "one" will be happy !
The rolling shell is a good couple of weekend's off being finished (but then i never get a weekend off !), so just need to source a Weber 45 preferably, Lightened Flywheel Assy, and a few other ancillaries, other people on the forum are helping me with, and others ill be in touch with, how would we manage without this forum !, mind you its this forum that got me going on Minis again any way

Engine coming together now, very brief spec is 4 synchro remote gearbox built up with straight cut gears 3:9 with twin pin diff, central oil pick up pipe, straight cut drop gears, trying the new idler gear with the roller bearing in the centre, but then I found the flywheel housing from my donor unit is A+, so need to sort that.
Mini spares lightened flywheel and pressure plate, racing AP clutch and Orange cover.
Short motor built up with omega pistons and 296 cam, vernier timing gear, all new pumps etc, new bearings, core plugs etc.
Lovely big valve MED head to be fitted next with 1:5 Roller rockers
