For some years I was a paying member of the M7RC. Competition driving was restricted to Germany and the sourrounding countries: Zolder, Zandvoort, Salzburgring and later Assen, and of course the Ring and Hockenheim, both the old layout. Later some years in the hillclimb championship including some rounds (sic!) for the European Hillclimb Championship (www.euromontagna.com). The last six years before I took a break of racing I took part in the Belgian hillclimp championship with a Belgian competition license. This was a great time if not the best as the Belgians are motorsport mad! I love their attitude to this day.

Especially good to see the 'in the race paddock' photos as these often remind and capture the behind the scenes people and cars 'in period' best. Most surviving old photos tend to be the more common on track action pics. I wish I had taken more photos in the paddock at circuits back in the day...but of course before digital cameras you were much more aware of the cost of film and of developing them!

It is Chris Tyrrell's Mini Seven when my late brother Steve Bell was his race mechanic. Steve is standing behind the van on the left of the photo.
The Mk3 Ford Cortina Estate was Chris's tow car at the time. I posted some colour photos I took of Chris and his Mini from around the same time earlier in this thread, see link below:-

The late Chris Tyrrell was Mini Seven Champion 1974, 1986 and 1987.

Oh yes, Martin, when I got my first SLR camera at the beginning of the 70s I bought mainly b/w 35mm films. Later I had a selection of film cartridges and a little machine to spool the bulk 35mm into the cartridges. I developped the films myself in the basement. With digitalisation I got a slide/film-scanner and scanned all my films (400+). Except from my first race attended (1000km Nürburgring 1970, aged 13) with my father, what a pity (!), I always took a camera with me since then.

Techno Classica Exhibition, Essen, 1988:

I was invited to drive this Mini in the 24h Nürburgring 1987. We enlistened to the race and I was promised the car would be on place on Friday before the date. I went to the Ring but no car was there. I was of course deeply disappointed. This was the first time I saw the car in flesh. But it never raced, only shown on some exhibitions. From then on I decided to do things only that are under my own control.
