Good grief, someone has gone to a lot of trouble aging stickers. I'm amazed.

I thought the wooden dash looked odd in a rally car!

You can get loads of age related barn find stickers and tax discs/service records from all good Halfords branches. They also do washing-up powder size boxes of barn find dust, with 3 distinct 'ages' The oldest contains powdered chicken shit to compliment the horse shit spouted by the sellers

It looks a sound little car which isn't pretending to be anything it isn't. Some great bits on it too. I bet it would be a hoot to drive
. Go and have a look at it. I have no idea of values for something like that which is a bit unusual. Fairly minor point: Despite the seller's claim that isn't the original registration number. Those later FO registrations (Welsh Borders?) were never originally issued and were a DVLA age related plate some years ago

I was looking at the ad earlier today, I'd say it's worth going and having a shuftie at it. I'd keep most of it as it is but maybe change the wheels and steering wheels. Considering that a lot of other Mk1s for sale are around £20k it looks like a lot of fun and good value.
Edit - I can never remember which way the names of the blues go with the early Austins / Morris Mk1s... clipper blue... speedwell blue... smoke grey with a hint of blue...?

Thanks, I've been in contact with the seller and hope to go and see it in the next few days. I liked the look of the car, what minis were, modded, improved, personalised. I've seen the car before at various events and it presents well.

Im not sure any Mk1 ‘non Coopers’ are selling for that kind of money anymore. I’ve a mate in London with a lovely fully restored OEW/black Mk1 998 Cooper selling for £20k ono.

That's not a 1098 engine as we know it though - looks more like a 1275. Note the upright oil filter top left like a later Marina block.
BMC SA did make a sort of 1071 so could be one of those - I don't know enough about them to comment much further but that's almost certainly a big bore cylinder block and head.
It looks a good buy for 9k if it is as nice as it looks.

South African engine they did 1275 and 1098 but it was a different bore and stroke to our 1098 from what I remember
