It is undoubtedly a part of an original BMC Mini luggage set.

I'll try & find some pictures.

Yes, it looks too bright and shiny to be Glyptal, although what the point of painting those surfaces is I don’t know. Plenty of oil on top usually!

Makes you wonder if it will actually get fitted, or just be kept as a memorabilia item ?

TBH, I completely understand why you would not fit it and keep as it is, same true of lots of parts, especially if they are NOS in packaging

Do you really think they did get a bargain?

A fairly manky set of H4's with Minispares ram pipes, tiny T1 float chambers, with most of the choke linkage missing, all on an MG100 Manifold for £1500 !!

The last real set I sold, was less than 1/2 that!

£175.00 was the buy it now price on this item. 1500 is the set in the FS-section of your forum ;)

WHOOPS!

My mistake.

I think they were a good price. Not knowing much about early H4's can the choke linkages be swapped around L to R or R to L?

Yes the carb bodies are more or less identical and it’s all the parts that bolt on make them L or R

The fast idle cam is fitted to a threaded hole, so that needs to be blocked/tapped depending on the situation. The fast idle part of the throttle lever also needs to be on the correct side to match the cam

It might just be me, but it appears to have one small fuel bowl and one bigger. Ideally you’d have a pair of 30 degree bowls and a mini manifold too
