It looks alright although the potato camera pics might be hiding a lot.
But Cooper money for a Van?
Really?

12G940 casting.....I have seen these before.......
I even have a similar one here.
My guess was the tuners used the better 12G940 casting and stamped it 316...maybe to satisfy homologation requirements....just a guess!

TBH that's what I wondered, the manifold face is a big give away though if you were a scrutineer....

Looks nice but advert says oversills fitted 30 years ago!
Same advert on car and classic but it’s a dealer selling it-the eBay advert comes across like it’s a private sale…
Wouldn’t a Cooper have chrome door handles not door pulls on the inside?

Also I think GVU +++D series is an age related number. So is it an import or has it lost its original reg number. ??? Hmmm

Yes, GVU was used as a reserve series, I confess I cant see when this number was issued, but it must be quite recently.
Car is reg as a Rover Mini without a single MoT to its name..reg April 66 when looking at MoT check,
And a Morris in Tax checker which also says Oct75 first Registration, and a V5 issued March24.
Hmm, I'm not sufficiently up to speed on this era of registrations to actually interpret that level of confusion.

Definitely a dealer sale. He's used quite a few IDs on ebay hasn't he.

Ok, this is what I've now got....
Up til the start of March 24 it was on KBN 778P.
True enough one registered keeper since 1st May 1980. (but how may owners in that time I wonder?) Between its UK registration in 75 and 1980 it had 3 other Keepers.
Why is it on a P plate? Probably an import from somewhere in Oct75....
If important to a prospect they need to ask some unambiguous questions over its early history, which the ads make no mention of.

Most likely it was built from a body shell (new or used) and registered as 'built from parts' in 1975 - in those days DVLC just registered such cars on the latest registration letter.
KBN778P is down as a dead number but shows a registration date of 18/4/66.
Is it the same car? The V5 was registered to one person since 1980. It means nothing. You can see the new trim, the original lower dash rail vinyl and the badly fitted top rail vinyl. Probably cut it from an old DFS sofa at the tip.
You can buy a proper 998 Cooper for 20 grand so why buy one with an Enid Blyton history? Unless it's four figures beginning with a 5 or a 6 of course.

It’s been pulled from eBay
TBH, not so bothered about the history, for me its a bit too tarted up, remove the bonnet stripe, Rocker cover, etc….,forget the BS knock a few grand off and might be worth a punt, as a car to drive.
Would need to check the surface rust, is just that, surface rust, though
Oddly, the seller must spend an inordinate amount of time in barns, as all last few cars he sold were “barn finds” according to reviews….

OK, I've looked at the listing. What's wrong about the car or the seller?
