the DVLA say the can see the original registration number PXC277J in their historic records and you can apply for a V5C when the car is restored.

Why would the seller not apply before selling, what could possibly go wrong :o

What that suggests is that the dvla are not going to issue a logbook until it’s fully restored and V765 inspected etc etc . … Ken

Does anyone recognize the wing mirrors on the black deseamed '71 1275GT ??

I seem to have the same ones but can't figure out their origin. They also have the same look as the black wing mirrors on the 4-door World Cup Rally car.

Thanks for your help!

Interesting 1967 Mk3 Sprite on eBay at the moment.
Would definitely bid on it if I had the space and not too many projects that aren’t finished!
Not sure how to post the link.
Cheers

Yes, I spotted it a few days ago and have it on my watch list. A great fun car the Sprite/Midget IF you're still small/young enough to get in/out of one which sadly I am not! It is in Cornwall and pretty rough but only £810.00 at present and seems to have had a Downton conversion carried out in its early life? The engine and Downton badge must be worth that. I don't know how to do a link either but the ebay ref is 255911410114 ;)

The above link is this

If you wish to know, to insert a link you can just type [url*] with the link in here and remove the *'s in the brackets [/url*]

Alternatively if you click the small icon next to the water drop when entering your message, it will insert the brackets for you

Back in the non-PC days a Sprite/Midget or Triumph Spitfire were considered by many car enthusiasts to be 'hairdressers' cars. In my younger days in the 1970's I was never really into traditional British Sports cars but a couple of friends had MGB's, which as a Mini enthusiast I considered to just be a 2-seater Austin Cambridge/Morris Oxford.
However I was impressed how MGB drivers all gave each other a wave when out on the road....but back then most MGB drivers did not usually wave at an MG Midget or vice versa, I am guessing they do today?
There were so many Minis on the road back then that there was no way you could wave at them all and you would be unlikely to get a response if you did....unlike today when another classic Mini is a rare sight!

I did also have a friend who put a much modified 1275 engine in an early Midget but he was always breaking half-shafts in the back axle before he sold it and bought a Mini...
Also my older brother started to build a Mod Sports Spridget racer in the early 1970's but eventually sold it as an abandoned project part way through and switched to building an 850 Mini Special Saloon which was really the start of my life long love of Minis!

Hard to tell from the photos and it is too far away for me to go see but there are some pretty original bits (like brake servo lines) on this car - might be fairly original. Haha. My suggestion for that would be to borrow a digger, dig a very big hole, and then fill it up with that ;)
