Optimistic going off on a caravan holiday at that time of year :) He must be a Yorkshireman, tempted by an off-peak special offer

Looks like late 1977. That was a bloody harsh winter.

Meanwhile, GSV650 in Glasgow or Edinburgh around 1985/6. It's still on the road.

Almost inevitably, and the fate of many a BMC garage, now the site of a sprauncy set of flats.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who do not possess it.

My pal Stephen owned GSV 650 in the mid 90s. From memory I found it in the yellow paper and having all my cash tied up in whatever mini I had at the time (mini 25 and the van, I suspect), gave him the details and he bought it to get to and from Uni. It was in colinton, quite a posh bit of town, and was an early '60.

In retrospect, he shouldn't have fitted the big engine, works arches, bigger wheels (only cause they had decent tyres off a pals scrapper....) etc, but we were young and it was just a cheap old mini, albeit we knew it was a bit special being so early, but hey, it wasn't a cooper and so worth very little. :?

He had it quite a number of years, and sold it down south, I think.

I'll try to dig out some photos of it

Edit:

Excellent!

Meanwhile: Scrap Minis and Mini donors. Centre pic from 1983, the other two are circa 1970.

This one was in the local paper last year (forgot I had it). Dodgy scan sorry but I couldn't get it any better.

The exterior 'flappy' door handles, latch and inner release appear to be the same as used on Australian Mk2 Minis and much of the Leyland Australia range in that era.
