Could be
Sounds like Mike knows something that we don't!
In the words of Manuel 'I know nothing'
Littler, I agree a grid of period racers both private & works back would be great. The rally cars seem to get all the good PR!
See you at Downton on Saturday weather permitting?

I know Vitafoam had one of the Britax cars cos they had the job of repainting it , it went off to a customer (in Spain I think). Two cars were also written off. Had most of these race cars been registered you could bet your life they'd all have survived
, or in the case of the works rally Mini more survived than there actually were to start with !

At the risk of staying off thread....
Pete, I agree with you GPH 1C etc seem to have survived, so number plates must make a car last longer
Littler, if you're not driving I'll get you a pint!

A friend of mine had a competion mini that was half a Cooper Britax car , I still have the remains of the anti roll bar (front brakets, rear blade, brake hub brackets and drop links). if you think how many minis were used in competition in the sixties and seventies at all different levels what happened to them?

Thanks for the nice comments guys
but to be totally honest it was probably the easyest mini restoration that I,ve done to date, after all it was done in work time with a great team of beaters and painters behind me, I,ve had to do everything myself in the past usually in a dark and dingy garage after work and on the weekends, like everyone else here the only way to get what you want is to do as much or everything yourself as cost is always an issue, so you could say that it really was a pleasure do.
Cheers Paul.

Hi Fabian,
I don't know if these might help ?? This is my friend's car, an historic race car with a log book back to 1968.

We had a cut and shut rolling shell that was part Britax Cooper, it ended its life as a hillclimber, if it had a reg no well!!!!
I still have the front anti roll bar mounts so it could be the start of a restoration along with the Downton 'S' engine I bought from Steve Harris in the early eighties.

Hi Paul,
Injection car has been going well after a bit of a refresh at the begining of the year (new seals in the metering unit to cope with Ethanol!). We used it at the Great Western Sprint (Castle Combe) & at Prescott in June. Been away in storage for a while as we have car overload at home.
How is you car collection? Did you ever get to see the Arden car run?
Mike.

Bit of a sore subject really Mike
I never got to hear the car run but worse I was sent pictures of the car when finished
the under bonnet now sports some lovely new blue anadised fittings on everything
as much modern stuff as the fitter could decorate the engine bay with, they also cut out the rad shroud
A nice set of 12" white spoke wellers will finish it off nicely
