I can see the surprise this prices causes to the english mini owners. You just grew up with minis as a common every day car. However, believe it or not, the mini was never massivly sold in latinamerica, probably because the influnce in the market by USA car companies.

You wouldn't believe the kind of prices we have to pay here in Mexico to buy a mini, the regular mk1-mk2 70's mini is sold here for nearly 7500£. Look, i brought my first 77 mini 6 years ago but i always wanted to have a mk1 mini. I remember back then having 3 or 4 options of 59'ers in good condition for maybe 2500 or 3500£. Now that i decided to bring one, i had to settle for a 60 with a straight gear stick because its the closest to a 59er at an affordable price that i could get. We all have seen the prices they are getting, so yes, although i know i had to pay more than i expected for the 60 one, i know for a fact i will regret not to, a couple of years from now when 60's minis become the new 59ers pricewise of course. I'm affraid this will happen for those who are not buying this rare parts now believing they are just caps or bolts.

I just placed and advert here for a pair of early morris black kick door plates. How much do
you think I'm gonna have to pay for them when they eventually appear on ebay?

So, its not that we are nuts, take in consideration that if in UK minis are getting rare, just figure out how rare they are in countries that never had them as a regular market optionback in the 60's in the first place.

I suppose if he can't sell it he can always break it up and make a fortune selling the original parts. ;)

For £85,000 you could have bounght DJB93B a 'genuine' ex Works Mini at Bonhams sale at Goodwood recently. For half that money you could buy Glen Chappelle's Works replica - which is probably the best one I've ever seen.

It begs the question, "What have we all got in the shed that we just can't be bothered to haul out, polish and put on sale?". Although I am not in the NOS market, I'm pretty sure I have a set that will buff up nicely......£399.99 anyone?

Have a look at his completed listings. This man must be one of the wealthiest people on the planet after that 'clearout'.
