Definite reshell into a vanilla clubman shell and not a complete GT to start with either (wrong servo brackets).surfblue63 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 07, 2021 4:17 pm No hydro, no body number on slam panel, holes in top of inner wings, my guess is that this is a reshell. As for price, GTs have been selling like hot cakes recently, and very few appear to be restored to original spec.
Wrong pedals tooGraemeC wrote: ↑Tue Sep 07, 2021 4:47 pmDefinite reshell into a vanilla clubman shell and not a complete GT to start with either (wrong servo brackets).surfblue63 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 07, 2021 4:17 pm No hydro, no body number on slam panel, holes in top of inner wings, my guess is that this is a reshell. I think it would've looked better to have the wrong body number than none at all (and if you did feel the need to have none, at least weld the drilled holes up so its not as obvious )
Later grille too - the top piece screwed back to the slam panel should be black painted steel on an early one.
Its a complete ringer as previously discussed - late shell with square transmission tunnel and no drip rails. Apart from that:floormanager wrote: ↑Tue Sep 07, 2021 7:25 pmWrong pedals tooGraemeC wrote: ↑Tue Sep 07, 2021 4:47 pmDefinite reshell into a vanilla clubman shell and not a complete GT to start with either (wrong servo brackets).surfblue63 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 07, 2021 4:17 pm No hydro, no body number on slam panel, holes in top of inner wings, my guess is that this is a reshell. I have an original copy which I picked up from Downton if I had known what they sell for I would have grabbed a handful.UHR850 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 07, 2021 12:18 pm Original of fake ?

Yes it has a rod change - you can tell by the gear lever gaitor. It should indeed have a remote attached to an 1128 all synchro close ratio box...360gts wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 5:29 pm Not really up on the GT as we never had them over here. Could someone confirm if they think that has a rod change gear lever....
I would have thought the 70 GT would have had a remote shifter.
Don't see a cut out box on the firewall.....
Brake clutch pedals look like later style too.
Also, would the GT have had the silver displacers same as the MK 3 S??
Good question.Andrew1967 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 5:56 pm Is there a specific change point for the bonnet prop position ?

Some time in mid to late 1970 as far as I can work out. It is rather like the bonnet hinges. 1969 built cars had bonnet hinges that bolt up into tapped threads in the bonnet framework. By the beginning of 1970 this had switched to the usual arrangement - bonnet hinges with threaded studs sticking out and flanges with oblong holes welded to the bonnet framework. Not sure why - perhaps there were problems with threads stripping, the bonnet slipping in the open position or it was just very hard to adjust! Its another of those early production quirks. My GT built early March 1970 has the conventional arrangement.
I always understood that to be the case too, the 6.5k ones are certainly rarer and have the older style PCB connections etcAndrew1967 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 7:31 am
Noted the comment about rev counter … I thought the early ones were 6500 red line with the early diff and went to 6000 with the higher ratio diff.
