They don't 'arf look posh with those front quarterlights but that flower child looks a bit er, 'Village Of The Damned'...!

Oh unbelievable. It made Hydrolastic redundant overnight - the ride was superb. It's what the sorry Allegro should have been.

But Alfa made the same mistake as BL, it was not a hatchback (well not until 1981). If you wanted a hatch version you had to buy the Giardinetta estate or the Sprint. I had a Sprint after my short stint in an MGB. It was the first fast FWD I had. Great noise and great handling, except when the rear discs locked up under hard braking :o
