Re: 62 Austin Seven Cooper 8 Port
Amazing work!
Does it have the stiffening bar inside like an original bonnet?
As for me I would paint it Matt black

Re: 62 Austin Seven Cooper 8 Port
The Inside is like on a Riley Elf Bonnet and is fixed to the original Hinges.
A Forum member asked me to not post the inner section as apparently some manufacturers are planning a Alloy Bonnet, but with normal steel Cross inside.
My bonnet is 100% Alloy

Here's a picture from one week ago.
Some may recognize the Parking, yes it's Goodwood!
The Mini made the 2300 km journey from Switzerland and back without missing a beat!
I am very happy how well the engine performs now and this all with a average consummation of only 7.5 l/100 km over the whole trip!

Well done, looks great, quite an achievement to make two webers and an 8 port head reliable and not too un economical…..
Often Webers are seen as only a competition carb, not an every day carb…….

Re: 62 Austin Seven Cooper
I think that the Weber is a very good and reliable Carburetor, assuming it's properly set up on a rolling road.
My issue was that one of the floating bowls was filled with fuel!
Like that, the mixture was horribly rich over all the range and consumption between 9.6 and 11 liters on 100km!
Finding the issue was a kind of a thing, even two Weber experts didn't find out the problem...

Re: 62 Austin Seven Cooper
It was where i worked before. I don't know if it's finished yet. The Car was in a bad state and needed a lot of new panels and mechanical attention...

Re: 62 Austin Seven Cooper
I thought it's time for an update!
Courrently i enjoy Summertime with my Cooper using it at least one Time per week to go work with.
As i fortunately could sell some old Vespastuff i bought me a new dream Part on my bucket List: a KAD rear Anti Roll Bar!
When i wanted to fit it, i had to find out that the used rear Subframe i fitted to the Car some 16 years back was not a genuine one, so the Anti Roll Bar will not fit.
The rear of the Subframe is to narrow where the Bar should be fitted.
Fortunately the Countryman i bought two years ago had a nearly new and genuin Injection Subframe on it.
Yes, he had it. I had to Canibalise it to get a Subframe where i can Fit the Roll Bar.
Now dry fitted it's ready to go for a fresh dose of powdercoat. If everything works, i can fit the new Subframe end of August and then find out if it really improves the handling of the Mini...
