Some more shots and info on the De Bruyne Grand Sport, which appears to be based on the Gordon Keeble.

In the background is a Mini (Silver?), reg no KJJ 534D

Certainly looks like it could be a Sand or Shell Grey Radford Cooper with a black roof, and a great photo of the inside of Radfords taken I think in 1968?

I think it bears more than a passing resemblance of the 1965 Lancia Fulvia Sport (Zagato) and the 1966 Maserati Ghibli, especially from the side.

I actually like the look of it, Radford could have trimmed for a few low volume manufacturers like that? Wood & Pickett trimmed Unipower GTs for instance.

DeLorean springs to mind looking at the b/w picture aswell!

I recognised the bits but who did the work? The last owner in Scotland sold it as an original Radford, but pretty sure that both front and rear end are home conversions, ie it's a replica Radford Hatchback.

Stu the tailgate is similar to BGJ but by no means the same. BGJ has a one piece Ali door (made on an English wheel 1st pic) which we know of 3 surviving, the tailgate on the car for sale is fibreglass, not done by Radfords as they used maxi external tailgate hinges on there fibreglass tailgates (see 2nd pic). But it is nicely done all the same. My opinion is the car needs to be brought back to its W&P roots, as a Mk1 W&P is crazy rare.

Thanks for the info Nev.

I should have looked at my pictures from Beaulieu in 2009 to see the differences.

A central London (late '67) registration as expected with these cars.

A piece about the Nesmith car..

Image

Seen a few shots of the dash before, not usually as clear as this.. note all the door pillar switches, air flow vents, the 'I.C.E' and speakers in the doors!

Image

I bet those Radford keyring fobs were mega rare even then!

Image

A little piece about it with info from a former Radford employee...

Image

Ties up with my picture of the car outside Downton with Bill Quine (ie it wasn't tuned by Taurus as reported elsewhere..) but Barry Hawkins did say that engines were often fitted up at Richard Miles and didn't always come to Wiltshire.

Pete I've never seen SMU 561F before. It's another Ali Radford HB. How cool is that! Wonder where it is now?
Nice article on Mikes car. It's a shame it's dead now :-(.
