Here's one for the brave at Anglia at the end of January

Mk2 Morris Cooper. Possible import in 1982. Been "dry" stored for a number of years, but body looks very crusty. Does look complete but all of it will need work. Also the over sills could be hiding something worse. Estimate £6,000-£8,000.

I supplied some of the parts for this Italian Job replica (Cibie Type 22 headlamps, overalls, crash helmet, replica gold bars, whip aerial etc to the guy who originally built it back in 2006/2007. It was auctioned three times after that with all of the film related stuff (which it now seems to have lost):

It was built as a replica based on a 1965 registered Morris Cooper S but badged as an Austin Cooper S with late Mk1 features such as the double skinned boot lid (as the film cars had).

So the "original 24,000mile" car showed 11,800miles on the clock in 1979 when 14years old - and had received a replacement engine several years before that! Seems to me that it had either been around the clock or the clock had been wound back to zero when the replacement engine was fitted?

Maybe its got a speedo like Christine....

That’s the one I went to see, well I tried to but could barely open the doors. It’s actually a ‘66 850 with a 1275GT rod change in it and Metro head. A ‘65 Morris Cooper S it certainly isn’t no matter what Mathewson’s tell you. Nice fun thing, but not £32k’s worth of nice.

Surely this is a mistake. A Vanden Plas 1100 with an estimate of £18,000-£22,000.

Having seen basic Mini Vans and Pick-ups advertised for more, I'm not sure that such a price is WILDLY optimistic anymore. It is certainly in astonishing condition
I'm not sure I'd want to drive quickly in it on those old crossply tyres though I had experience of driving 1100s on crossplies when I working in a dealership. It wasn't a successful combination as I recall
If I had a choice of spending that money on a Mini Van or that VDP 1100, I'd choose the VDP any day. Then I'd buy some better tyres for it and enjoy the smooth luxury of it on warm dry days and garage it when the weather forecast hinted at anything damp.

So according to the blurb, "said to have never had any corrosion or accident repairs and to retain its original factory spot welds throughout", so why was it stripped to a bare shell showing areas that look to have been painted after repair ?. Cynical I know but there's always some BS that makes you wonder, just tell the story straight for once. However nice it is, no way any ado16 is worth that, unless it was completely original and unrestored with delivery mileage.

At Anglia this weekend, along with the blue MK2 I mentioned earlier, is a Mk2 S in need of a full restoration. Possibly a Liverpool Police car. Estimate seams low until you factor in the cost of restoration.
