That seller bought quite a bit of stuff off me when I had my clear out. He has a right old collection, but it always goes for TOP DOLLAR!

The Speedwell plastic display was once mine.
I got it from the same source as the Speedwell slides.
Sometimes I am very tempted to put the slides on ebay

Andreas, If you do ever think about selling the slides, please contact me first. I think it would be great if I could keep them with the car.

I thought so too 8-) . I really fancied that. It must have sold immediately 'cos I telephoned him within hours of the ad appearing and it was sold already  Right car, right price I suppose. I'm waiting to see it re-appear on some dealer's website at half as much again.....
Like most Mk1 Minis sold on the open market nowadays that one's back on the 'dealer go round' :

Well spotted Pete! The trouble is with such cars that once you've added a dealers profit and an auction commission and a buyers premium etc etc a reasonably priced car soon becomes an expensive one doesn't it. It will indeed be interesting to see what it sells for this time - and who buys it next of course!

It does look good though doesn't it?

Yes, that is very silly.

To put it in perspective, I bought my freshly restored cooper bits into super deluxe (swapped everything but the V5) like it had just left the factory in 03 for £1500.

Quite recently (a few years ago). I picked up a 1430 engine with 177 rods, full race cam, sleeved stage 100 head, weber 48, full SC everything, salisbury LSD, remote box, special dizzy, etc, etc, etc. for well under £1k. Remember Vizards advice about buying a used engine?

It has gone off the scale. It is totally silly. £1000+ for a speedometer is far too much. SELL SELL SELL!!!!

as we have said before on here, its a brave man who spends his days scurrying around the uk buying minis and trying to earn a living from it..

if I tried to this this I would be buying endless rotten hounds with engine problems (I do that anyway, but im not trying to earn a living from it!!   )

Looks a sound shell. Bit odd to do all that work but not disguise the much later front panel - and then paint it a colour that was never used on Minis of that age.
