Spotted this one, well you could hardly miss it, at Goodwood. It's has a long history including being used by Scarab, Alan Mann, David Piper as well as the Cobra Team. The current number plate is a reference to the Cobra Chassis numbers. It was also used in the film Le Mans.

that's a battered old thing, I guess he is struggling either to find, or refit all the chrome trim on the sides!

those harringtons did have a reputation of been 'built to cost', which is why so few of them survive, the inner frame of the body was really lightweight, so just didn't stand up to the hard use that better quality stuff like plaxton made

I bet it would bankrupt the owner to sort the body out on that, it could easily swallow 15 grand

they are a lovely thing to drive though, just like a big car - the noise inside is horrendous though from that 466 Leyland howling away!

if I had a massive garage id have another one, but it would be a panorama 1, they are my favourite body style, they just look ace

Thought the Bedford VAL chassis had a Bedford466 motor same as fitted to the KM truck ,if was a Leyland unit it would be 375 or 400

Oh yeah I remember!

Bedford never owned up that they had to buy the 400 from Leyland. I dont think they ever used the 'L' word in any literature. It must have really smarted to have had to have bought a decent engine from a competitor!

My VAL had one fitted and we yoked it out to fit my VAM. it was a hell of a tight fit. Particularly as I made a power steering system using a mixture of parts from a VAL and a YRQ. Bedford never offered it and they missed a trick as it made it really nice to drive.

The 375 must have been junk in a VAL the one originally in my VAM was terrible. Gutless!

If I had another one I'd rip the whole lot out and fit a modern turbo cummins with a decent box. They would be a lovely thing to own then!

What a bizarre ad! Like you say he's in dispute over ownership, technically he's just the keeper cos they took it off the owner by force and then he goes on to 1800 words about his holidays. Some very odd people about.
