Can you post a pic of your rack positioning? I would like to compare to mine! Also I notice you have some spacers on the rear as well, is that how you found it?
On my car it is a later spaceframe so I'm not sure that the spacer is necessary. Nice choice of wheels as well...

The wheels are only temporary while the original Dunlops are away being restored, they do look great though.

Do you mean the spacers on top of suspension turrets? The car had them when I stripped it so they will be going back on, they create a nice flat surface to sit up against the chassis.

We positioned the steering rack as per the later GTM build manual and a reference image from the GTM owners forum. In an ideal world we would have fitted the rack when the car was fully build and at the correct ride height to get the rack as level as possible.

Good news re your Dunlops, I "MAY" Have them collected next Wednesday.

Wheels now restored and looking stunning!! They were in really good condition to start with and it was touch and go as to whether to get them restored or not but I'm really glad I did, very impressed...

Who? Me?

A big step in the resto this weekend, the tub is finally painted and ready to transport from my parents garage to mine and start fitting up...

Its a bit more of a blue-grey in real life but I'm happy with the results so far.

Ooh, shiny! I was toying with doing mine in grey but went with Satin black and grey subframes. You are making me question my decision now, looks cracking! Now the tricky bit, trying not to scratch it...

Its a bit of a copy of the CCC Cox which is grey on the inside, makes it look a bit more 'racy'.

I've still loads of holes to drill here and there so the chance of scratching it are very very high And the big flat areas in the engine bay are perfect for resting tools.

I get what you mean a bit like a racing lotus, apparently they painted it grey to show up any cracks, a common feature of spaceframe Loti...
I am probably going to paint the rear space frame grey on mine as well as I like the racy look too

Well after a few very productive evenings and a bit of sun last night I thought I'd take some more snaps...
...the petrol tanks is a later steel GTM one which might be replaced at a later date with an alloy one. The next major jobs are sorting the gear linkage and handbrake...







A few close-ups, this shots shows the 'interesting' support the original owner/builder made to support the pedal box, I just had to keep it for posterity...



The next one shows the adjustments I've had to make to the clutch cover to clear the body, I'll tidy them up when I take the engine out again to sort the handbrake, you can also see the clearance on the clutch arm which is going to need sorting.



And this shows the space down the bulkhead before fitting the dynamo/dizzy/starter and a shed load of pipes and cables...



Two problems I'm mulling over in the back of my mind are that with the steering wheel fitted I can't see the rev counter. The whole cars could do to sit a bit lower too but the hi-lows are on there max so not sure how I'm gunna do that, the car being so lightweight doesn't help.

Looking good out in the light! I don't know if you every saw the silver one that a Hungarian chap rebuilt but he put the Rev counter on a sort of tubular extention out of the dash to raise it up, might be worth looking at.
