It is a Wood & Pickett Pete, look at the A panel, it has the small square WP badge.

Certainly looks like one of their little square badges Jens, bit fuzzy to make it out. No two ever look exactly the same do they, It's what makes coachbuilt cars so interesting! I would thought it'd have colour coded seam trim?

Yea - agree, always interesting to see another one of these.

Some of the WP price lists mention steel sill trim, and in some its specified as "painted in cody colour" so who knows ?

This looks like some std plastic trim, but not easy to see.

It's on the DVLA data base but not on the road since 1985
The engine size would suggest it was a Clubman, as Pete said, and not a GT.

Only collected privately by the likes of MCR Registrar Steve Burkinshaw etc, W&P's records were reportedly all destroyed.

A well known Margrave changed ownership sunday.

The car has been locked away for a number of years, but its a low milage car, so paint & interior is in A1 condition 8-)

Linda McCartney's was a 1275GT, still owned by Paul I think and on the road, Stella's memories of it:

“My mum used to have a Mini Cooper. She had it custom-sprayed this metallic hot pink. She had a little microphone put in it, and she would sing to her eight-track. And she had a bench seat put in the front, and she’d always have four dogs in the back. My mum was renowned for collecting us late from school. I’d be on the village lane in Peasmarsh, and all of sudden — yeeooww —racing around the corner was this pink Mini with Neil Young screaming out.”

Quite a few of these cars seemed to have been coachbuilt twice over, Ringo's hatchback for example certainly looks to have been through some changes since the first conversion.

Not to mention the rear wheel arch which looks very much symmetrical to the front one, doesn't it ?

I was talking about this car at the NEC show last week with Ian Le Riche from Jersey. He had a lot of pictures of it. It was supplied new to the island and has been there ever since.

That is a rare thing. It looks like it could do with some wheels with more offset (Wolfrace slotmags?), that could help the arches look a bit more right. Also why go to the trouble of removing the sill seam and then leave the seam behind the rear wheel.

I also think the asking price is a bit high, so I guess it will be staying on Jersey for a bit longer.

Eddie Collins shares some anecdotes:
About the Wood & Pickett Mini Margrave they built for Linda McCartney: "That car was fairly strange. She wanted a ‘snogging seat’ in it, so what we did was make some sort of bench. She wanted it in a very light metallic purply paint, I remember it was called ‘Commanchee’, with a light leather with black velvet facings. It was great.”
