I am usually the first person to say "These programes are made for a mainstream audience & you have to make allowances". But even by my low standards I think this second series of "For the love of cars" has been dire!

I think the first episode in this series with the Aston they actually told you what it cost them to do the work - or some of the work....and I don't think anyone is expecting a step by step of him welding the shell up...but at least show some of the work that's gone into it. I guess they can't say we £8k at auction but it cost us £12k to do the work....maybe that's the reason.
Its seems to be each week they either paint the car a non-standard colour or fit a different colour interior to it, and this is its unique selling point at the auction.
That being said I do like an early transit, so looking forward to seeing that.

Car SOS on National Geographic is a far better than that Channel 4 thing, especially if you want to see a bit of restoration work and some parts buying.

I still watch For the Love of Cars but this latest series is not as good as the first. They seam to be going off on a tangent all the time. On the Fiat show they were driving round in Bubble Cars, why? And this time what did putting a Saab 900 in a freezer have to do with anything, and why feature the Volvo P1800 when restoring a Saab. The original format was better when they spoke to owners of the cars they were restoring and the general appreciation of that type of car.

And don't expect the Transit show to be any batter as you will be treated to the Phil bloke driving a tank and probably some old tractors.

By the way the Saab was auctioned again this weekend (16th May) by Coys for Charity.

UHR you are very right,

I too think this could be a good buy. Why? Because the entire car minus engine unit is complete and looks nice. It would be very easy to install a nice Swiftune unit and have a nice car. How many Mk1 / 2 / 3 Cooper S cars are original? 10%?

the fiat 500 was poor no real restoration ...seems they don't think main stream audiences would be interested it real work being done ....people watching this crap, think you can knock a few dent out send it for paint and its back in a couple of days....only good uk one for me was camper van crisis

Mark Evans Born series was really good ,watched the E type many times ,I suppose It was never main stream but you'd have thought some channel would have done more.I imagine it costs loads more than you think to produce such a show

Well spotted, how can someone candidly advertise should a vehicle and honestly expect this not to be spotted by enthusiasts? If this bloke truthfully believes this is a 1971 Mk3 shell he wasted his 40 years working at Minis. This advert should be reported to EBay Administration without question before some genuine unsuspecting person gets hoodwinked by this individual.

I am starting to suspect that yellow gel coat must have been miles cheaper than any other colour in the 1970's as nearly all mini based kit cars where that colour!
