Just to be clear here, my post was purely to do with the car and NOT the person/company selling the car. As you have quite rightly said, the guy is simply selling on an insurance total loss and it came to him as a 67/68 F plate Mini.

It was obviously rung BEFORE the claim. My view is simply that if it passes a vehicle identity check after (probably) being reshelled yet again, it makes a mockery of the whole VIC system.

Hopefully examples like this should reduce with the reintroduction of the rolling tax exemption.

I bet it will ever see the road again, look how far the scuttle has intruded / flattened off under the screen, I would guess that the subframe and the bulkhead have been pushed a good way back.

I doubt a car of this value would be worth tugging straight again, even if you where desperate for a tax free car

whats the betting that the scrapyard haven't even noticed its been reshelled/rung, it will just be a car to them

it looks like its got seat covers made from the sides that been peeled of a Citreon C4 cactus

That's them. Decent people, slightly eccentric is the old man.

Other year during the heavy snow he took his missus to Sainsburys in a tank he had knocking around!

He has some nice stuff including a lovely Willys jeep, complete with sand in the chassis tested to prove it was on Omaha beach.

As others have said, doubt they'll realise it's a ringer

Whenever I see a J type BMC vehicle I think of working on them at the BMC garage when I was an apprentice,especially the JU250, it should never have been produced, out of date before it was released. Compared to the Transit launched at the same time it was shite design,shite performance and shite to drive, another nail in the BMC coffin

The Austin / Morris J2/152 vehicle is a rare survivor today in any form. Most survivors are the Austin Paralanaian Coachbuilt motor-homes, and Austin / Morris Ambulances that make up most of the 100 known to survive. The Rarest J2 of all is the pick-up van.
The J2 Range was designed by Morris in 1956 and were the pioneer of this type of vehicle in their day and copied by the Rootes Group with their Commer PA/ PB & Dodge Spacevan.

The J2 range are still nice vehicles today.

Yes, I think you're right. Up until the Transit, development of commercial vehicles was very slow and for all their popularity I don't think the VW is a great drive either...
I remember driving quite long distances sometimes in a JU250 van we had at work and it was quite demanding and required concentration to keep it on the right line! The later Sherpa was an improvement but nothing like as good to drive as Transits of the same period I have to say....

I have found the lack of restoration coverage & the stupid time filling antics really annoying. I didn't bother watching the SAAB one last night.

I think you have to remember it is made for mainstream TV audiences not your hardened car restorer, who to be fair probably wouldn't watch it anyway because they are too busy in the inventing shed fixing the latest project.

If you want endless cutting and grinding and welding then 'Project Binky' on YouTube by Bad Obsession Motorsport is more like your thing I think.

It was a Mini to begin with.

the fiat 500 was poor no real restoration ...seems they don't think main stream audiences would be interested it real work being done ....people watching this crap, think you can knock a few dent out send it for paint and its back in a couple of days....only good uk one for me was camper van crisis
