Best non genuine panels?

Post by Jono »

Can anyone say who supplies the 'best' non genuine doors skins, boot skins etc?

I don't mind a bit of 'fiddling' to make things fit and I've heard just as bad about the 'genuine' panels as I have about the non genuine ones.

Cheers

99% of all non genuine panels are made by one company Magnum Panels. So regardless of the brand you buy they are all made in the same place.

:!: I used magnum doorskins on my mk1, got them fitted ok but the lock hole need adjustment as it's round on the panel before pressing whereas genuine are oval and round horizontal after pressing so that needed adjustment and the hinge holes needed adjustment along with some grinding and build up of weld around edges to get a good gap especially by the door handle to post area, never tried genuine but the magnum are ok if you can put the labour in yourself as if genuine don't need the fettling then it would be cheaper than extra labour fitting. I used magnum front end panels and had little problem with those but wouldn't touch magnum scuttle or doors steps again. M machine panels if their own manufacture are good so door steps sills and floor panels I would always choose them. Depends on value of finished car and how much you want to spend really

Magnum buy panels from several sources including M Machine and put them in their own primer with their own sticker

Wings, bonnets, bootlids still come from Italy

Way better value than Heritage and in the main can be made to fit
