Red shed is getting close to fire up. Fuel pump changed, timed in, oil pressure,
But the left hand carb is pissing out fuel. I imagine the float has stuck and a quick strip will sort it. However the bowls feel quite loose on the carbs on the little viton blocks. Is this normal? Do I need to replace them?
Should I just buy some hs4's
I've got a 69 Mini with a 1046, Cooper Head and a four on the floor.
Fuel pump is a new SU electric unit on the rear subbie.
Carb is the drivers side carb and the fuel line is going to the top of the float bowl from the copper fuel rail. It's basically a stock 998 cooper setup carbs wise.
Will pull the top off in the morning.

The angle blocks are a bit squishy so you can twist the float bowl around a bit. The 1/4" bolt can be tightened a bit but you will never get the bowl where it is rigidly mounted. Compare the two bowls to each other and if after tightening the bolts they don't feel the same, you may want to replace the angle blocks. It is certainly easier and cheaper to do that than to switch to a pair of HS4s.
Had similar problem with flooding on my HS2s, this was cured by putting a small in-line filter in the petrol line just before the carbs. Not had any issues since, reckon it was specs of dirt getting under the float needle and preventing it sealing properly.
When mine leaked it was a faulty float with a little fuel in it so the carb over flowed before sealing the needle, so may be worth checking float as well as needle and seat, then check the float height. Not much else it can be really
