Cooper 998 mk1 spaced drums
Hi everybody
I'm colecting some missing parts to rebuild my 1966 cooper mk1 and i have some questions:
the spaced drums are the same size as cooper s and 1275gt ones or smaller?
if smaller, how big?
thanks in advance.

Same diameter obviously but the spacer is thinner, the metro rears look very similar to the Cooper ones and might be easier to find.

Sorry to add to the thread but I'm wanting to put my 'S' wheels on my new 850. Which drums will I need and what length studs?
Thanks. Tim
Thanks. Tim

The spacer is thinner and incase you are wondering - it's not possible to modify an S drum to same thickness - you'll end up with a big hole.
I have some i might sell...

You could get a hold of some Aust drums as fitted from about 74 on to the Mini S, SS and LS Range. There are dimensionally the same as the Cooper S Drum, but the spacer is solid, so can be machined down to what ever thickness you like

You're thinking of the Superfins. On those you'll end up with four holessandman wrote:The spacer is thinner and incase you are wondering - it's not possible to modify an S drum to same thickness - you'll end up with a big hole.

The original iron drums can easily be turned down.

I wouldn't try it on my original 63 S drums ... the spacer is definitely hollow...

i have a pair of late mk 2 cooper drums, with medium sized spacer, recently re-finished, surplus to requirement and so potentially for sale, complete with studs!
see pictures below. They are in good condition. Let me know if you are interested and i'll get some photos of the wearing surface.
