Rally Suspension

Post by Brynmor »

Just wondering what set up (make and model) plus height people are running their rally Mini's at?
My current spax set up is pretty tired so suggestions would be welcomed..will be used for Road rallies and Historic road and stage...

First of all - what type of Rallying ? Forest - Airfield - Road

On the 8 port which is a heavy stage rally car we run Koni Shocks (but the re-valved Makinen spec ones) rally spec donughts from minispares and std trumpets - nothing fancy - totally std ride height

(front has big tie bars, neg camber bottom arms)

For airfield - i would change to std adjustable Konis, High lows and poss adj camber bottom arms with about a 1/2 std ride height

For road (bumpy roads) id go back to my stage Konis but 1/2 std ride height

Im not a believer in running the tyres right up in the wheel arches cause your fucked if you land hard and have no suspension travel.

Not so sure about ARBs - never tried them

Rear anti roll bar is a great thing. I use the old MS 12mm one. (might be 14mm). It makes it corner "right"

together with standard rubber cones, gaz preassurized dampers as Bilstein are a good solution to keep the wheels on the ground. We tried and found no better one.

Are these Bilsteins adjustable?
