Very interesting, I bought the wild card book and really like the look of the Vortz cars. Have you got any good photo's of the inside porting work? could you post or attach to a PM? I see you have a nice air filter box there as well.
I picked up a Vortz Cooper R twin HS2 manifold a couple of years ago and have a plan to port my 295 and use them on my mk2 998... one day.

And that's also an interesting wheel lurking in the corner is it a 998 spec rose petal with the built in spacer, because it looks like it my not be a petal at all? (Might be the photo)

I was wondering if the HS4 and HS2 manifolds were of the same casting but using different porting and stud pattern.
Does yours have this number R-400/1 cast into it opposite the Cooper R insignia? The opening at the carb mounting face on mine is only around 1 5/16"

Yes, R-400/1 on the opposite casting and the opening at the carb mounting face is just under 41mm (41mm converted is 1 39⁄64") so 1 1/2" as near as damn-it...

Paul Huxford was the Rover dealer in Fareham that 'promoted' the Cooper Car Company 84 Ltd cars for a short while yes.
Dug some more bits out over the weekend, here's a few of them...
For reference, see publication 'The Wild Card' (Vortz Racing Cars).
Air Box p101
Breather & Oil p105
Oil Cooler Bracket p106
Alloy Dash p164 (missing in my photo but I do have the tach somewhere!)
Badges p428/429 (NB. Cooper R 1000 was custom made badge for the first 998cc conversion using the 12G295 & R-664 cam)

Here's some more Cooper Car Co 84 Ltd parts...
The 1293 block & '940 head have been repainted due to the original paint flaking (not the period colour) - see rocker cover for period green (extra bracket was for throttle linkage on split webers - later replaced with twin HS4's)
Camshaft is not the standard 1293 R spec (which I believe was based on the old Leyland 544) but a Piper 285 (from memory only, a similar profile) that was used with the split webers.
Exhausts are a restricted R-454 as used on the first 998 (12G295 etc.) conversion and the R-458 for the full 1293 Cooper R.
There's also a (stripped) SCCR gearbox & final drive still around somewhere..!
I also have the matching Cooper Car Co 84 Ltd Chassis & Engine number and a file of period documentation & photographs. As you can see from the last photo (tongue in cheek) been there, done that and got the ...
At some point the whole package will be offered for sale and for someone who was interested enough this provides the opportunity to re-create a Cooper Car Co 84 Ltd 1293 R.

I can remeber going to work with my Dad in the late 80's (General manager at henley's) and seeing large wooden pallets with "cooper" stencilled on them.
I think this was before the cooper was rerelease and henley's were converting standard cars using cooper kits.
My Dad also created and sold Mini "Roger rabbits" at that time white with pink roof's and roger rabbit stickers on the rear quarters. I would love to know if any still exist.
