Looking into a battery cover for a mrk1 S and found many variations - Somerfords list part number 5L877, however this looks different to the photo shown in Parnell's book (the cut-outs are in different positions along the sides). So what does the correct one look like ?, is the one below correct ?
Many thanks for the reply, thought as much my one looks similar but the cut outs on the sides are in different positions !!!. Mine must be for a later model of mini ?. Producer of mine could quite easily make accurate versions of the originals surely???.
When its fitted the narrow cutouts on mine line up with the battery cable and earth strap.
The new one you have looks like they would line up with the rubber strap tags and the cables would just foul with the cover

True, so true Rich. I should have been more careful with my statement and said "standard production Mk1 Coopers did not appear to have had a battery cover".
I know my Riley Elf with board had no battery cover but it was NZ assembled. That might make a difference.
