60 Shell Seat Subframes
I believe I have a 1960 shell and I bought some Corbeau buckets. Is there a seat subframe base that will fit the early shells with the 14 1/2" width (center to center) welded on brackets?
I called Mini Mania and the Cobra subframe base would fit the seats, but the front mounts were too narrow for my brackets. I was hoping for a drop in solution, but I am thinking I will need to create a custom solution.
Thanks, Robb

you would have to modify the cobra frame, it would be easy to chop the downwards pointy legs of and weld a couple of tubes on instead

Easy if I had a welder and knew how to weld. =)rich@minispares.com wrote:you would have to modify the cobra frame, it would be easy to chop the downwards pointy legs of and weld a couple of tubes on instead
If I have to find someone to fabricate something, I will probably just modify the seat rails that are on the current random seats I have now.
Thanks Rich. I'll just save my money and buy some Minispares Rose Petals instead.

If wanted a set could be modified to fit your car before we ship them out as I own a early car with the same mounts. If interested email me at Nick@7ent.com (also located in California) Also interested in your old seat if you do not plan on keeping them.

Thanks Nick. I'll keep that in mind. I have a buddy that might be able to weld me up something once he gets moved.NicholasUpton wrote:If wanted a set could be modified to fit your car before we ship them out as I own a early car with the same mounts. The seats I have are not Mini seats. No idea what they are from, but they are trashed and I don't think they are worth saving. I think I can use the rails to make a new subframe.

Re: 60 Shell Seat Subframes
My van has welded brackets and a later seat had been fitted.
What they had done was simply put a rod through the brackets and the replacement seat mount point....and put a cotter pin at each end of the rod. This way the narrower seat mount would fit without modification/welding/drilling.

Thanks Spitz. I have heard that as well. I think that is plan B if I can't get Spank to help me out modifying what I have.Spitz wrote:My van has welded brackets and a later seat had been fitted.
