Re: Radford mini de ville colour cards found!!!
You can see in this still that the rear badges are low, maybe moved down to avoid the 'mural'.
I wonder who's idea it was to put Aston lights on the back of Macca's car? Either way you can see from this shot of Lennon's garage in '67 his Mini lurking in the background uses the same idea, Rolls yet to be vandalised...
Another fuzzy shot, George and Pattie..

Re: Radford mini de ville colour cards found!!!
Surfblue & Pete, thanks for that gen
Pete - I have that garage shot of Lennon's Roller and Radford, it's the only colour one I've seen showing anything of the outside of the Mini, pity there aren't more about. I wonder if we'll have find out what really happened to it.
Nick - lovely pic of the Patti Boyd car, very nice... has it actually sold yet since Mike Abbas advertised it? (Woodie looks fab too).

Re: Radford mini de ville colour cards found!!!
Just had a proper read of that article Pete, interesting stuff. The low res versions of the two interior views of John's car have certainly been around for a long time, I've still got them on a floppy disc!Pete wrote:Apparently all three shots at the beginning of this thread (plus a few other 'non car' shots) were taken by a certain Michael Herring, a 19 year old art student who simply door-stepped Lennon one day in May 1968. Lennon apparently took him in the back of his Mini down to Harrison's house (Kinfauns) where Ringo was also in attendance. The pics have been around for a while, in low res, but the story behind them only surfaced in a Daily Mail online article recently (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... ocket.html ).WMU 211G wrote:
Going back to the two interior shots of Lennon's car - these were most likely taken by his ex-school mate, ex-Quarry Man and Apple employee Pete Shotton
Maybe he sold the pictures as they're copyrighted, as most decent Beatles pictures are. Similarly the pictures I used for a Nesmith Radford article a while back cost about £40 each to get permission use!

Re: Radford mini de ville colour cards found!!!
As we seem to have a Beatles/Radford thing going I have dug out a pic of a Radford(?) Woody that I had when I had the shop in Putney
It had a Mk2 grille stuck on it and some later bonnet badge which I swopped for something more oldie. I was going to hang on to it as I was using it as a daily driver but an American student customer kept on asking whether he could buy it and I finally let it go. He was going to ship it back to the States
I can remember little about it except:
It was allegedgly made for the Queens hairdresser or something similar
Wicker on the sides , I think
It was bloody uncomfy to drive as the seat bases were solid ply under the cushion and it looke like they may always have been so
It had always been black and wasn't super-dooper spec of everything but had a lot of the obvious features (like the seats) . Can't remember what the dash was like - don't think it was that special
Must have been late 80's
Memory fades ....but I am glad to have been kicked into the joys of Beatlemania on the web - I now know where I was on 29 October 1963 ! Could'nt hear the music for screaming!
Yes , it is a Turbo opposite Stuart

Re: Radford mini de ville colour cards found!!!
Coming back to this I notice some of those paint shades are very close, if not the same as certain Jag and Aston colours of the period. Back in the '70s when I was still at middle school the old boy who lived opposite the school gate had an Aston DB6 in that dark metallic blue, he used to leave it sat on the drive when the weather was fine, it was a sight to behold, the darker shades definitely suited htose '60s Astons. Around the same time a neighbours relative had a Radford-esque Mk2 Mini in a similar shade to that sable brown, it had gold coloured alloys and very dark tinted glass all round - very tasty looking but probably old hat by the mid '70s.Nevsmini wrote:After 50 years in hiding this Radford Mini de ville colour card book has been found

Bugger, meant to post this as well... I wonder if there's a hi-res version of this one somewhere, taken by the same photographer Pete mentioned earlier :
