Crankshaft identification

Post by rolesyboy »

Would anybody have a list of Crankshaft identification marks and where I can find them please? I have just split a 1275 engine from its gearbox and without wishing to strip it further want to see what I have. I can see DA38AHV on one of the webs??? Looks like an old Austin 1300 to me. Cheers. Mark

Here's one from Keith Calver

Doesn't feature the number you have found so far.

I am a bit puzzled by the numbers. Is it a later crank perhaps??? Here is a picture

I'm guessing that it should be a 12G 1505 crank.
I did find some other markings on one of my 12G 1505 cranks which goes something like this; DH, then ineligible, and finishes with an upside down 46.
The engine I think, was out of a Wolsley or Riley 1300 judging by the pale green colour of the block.

Got any more photos?

What size big ends?

Have you turned it over to see if there are any more numbers? We got a lot of a small journal EN16 cranks here in our Morris 1100S model, and they had a variety of numbers stamped in - pretty small too.

Then later on we got the 1505 crank and the large journal heavy rods "1300".

edit : oh and and engine number prefix is??

cheers,

Jacob
