On Grandstand as well!! :D
What possible relevance does this have to Mk 1 these are not cars as we know or are interested in them, just hot rods?

MMMmmm I'm interested in it. And their not "just"hot rods !! But yes some like them and some don't. But it's an era where mini's where also great. Some famous drivers in their as well. One is Peter Baldwin. And their is the link to MK1 ? But The wendy wools cars are an evolution of the early special saloon cars. And also the first MK1 cars where in use of not original mini engines. Read the book of John Baggot.

Greenie,

Uncle Bernie speaking,

Change happens, it's great, let's see more. However, just to let those Philistine's your dealing with know, a new Wetherspoon's pub has opened a mere 118 steps from my house, the Abbotts/Director's /Pedigree and Northumbria ales are fantastic, and before you Yorkshire cloggies says anything I'd rather drink my own piss after a fortnight eating Philidelphia cheese, than drink that awful "John Smith's bitter." I don't know what Austin's tipple is, probably "Drambuie Shandy." Austin being gentry.

id say a 1970's era maguire with a high end 5 port or 8 port was probably the pinicle of the minis development.

certainly until the kad head appeared.

awsome things
please note, these are my own, individual sales, nothing whatsoever to do with my employer, minispares

Exactly Rich.

I have just picked up my spaceframe chassis and body today and iam going to build a replica of the Maguire Mini to run in the north west saloon championship.
There is quite a lot of interest being shown in certain circles about special saloon cars coming out of hibernation. That is why i have decided to build a new car .
I loved to watch Peter Baldwin when i was a kid at Oulton Park in his maguire,I will post some pics of the new project soon .

Ah that's better, thought that would stir you all up a bit!

But exactly as you say Rich it's a Maguire. The evolution from a Mk1 Mini is much the same as a Terrapin, related but not the same.

You all are very lucky. In Holland we never had this kind of racing as well no Grandstand. The only time I saw spaceframe min's was at Silverstone 1994 with the fastest mini in the world. Where Peter Baldwin, Martin Short, Ben Edwards and Bill Sollis had a very nice race. Untill2 laps before finish the car of Martin stopped. The car of Ben Edwards was hit by another spaceframe mini(see old forum)http://www.serifwebresources.com/phpBB2 ... mid=250646 I put some photo's of the race. I was very impressed by theracing of those cars. The early development car of Deltapower didn't run as they hoped. But what they race now should be very impressive.

It's to bad I missed that era of racing. Like to have a testdrive in one of those cars ;) So it can be put on the website www.racemini.nl

One of they new things to be add soon is test drive section. I had in the last few years some testdrives in some dutch cars. I still remember them as well so could be a very nicecompletion to the website.

Don't expect journalistic master pieces of me. It's just a hobby.

@uncle bernie

We have a Wendy Wools Mini last raced in 1979, it was fitted with a 999cc 8port that we also have, inc a dogbox in a biscuit tin now.

Its based on a MK2 shell, fibreglass front end and arches.

6x10 revolutions and slicks.

Fully stripped even the bottom dash rail has gone, with a works lowback seat, full cage, John alloy door bars. Poly windows.

Its a great piece of mini racing history.
