Wiper motor specs
I would be interested to find out what difference a 150' wheel would make to the sweep of my DR3A wiper motor? Is compatible? I presume it will give a wider sweep but will the wider sweep mean the wiper will fall off the screen? Cheers. Mark

Mark
In the absence of a more learned answer I'll add my thoughts here..
150 degree sounds high to me. On my MK1 rally car I'm using the MK3 14W motor and MK3 wheelboxes with 32 teeth (as opposed to 22 teeth on MK1 wheelboxes) so not exactly comparable to yours but...
I also wanted to maximise the sweep with this hybrid set up so bought 110, 120 and 130 degree gears and tried them all and the winner was the 120. The 130 put the wipers on the screen rubber.
I'm wondering what's behind your question, do you have a problem with your current set up? Can you even buy a 150 degree gear for the DR3A?
Andy

Re: Wiper motor specs
Hi Andy & thanks for your input. I have just stripped a DR3A Mini motor and rebuilt it. Whilst going through my spares I came across another DR3A which wasn't taken from a Mini and had a different cover to the usual Ally mini one.
I had a nosey inside and found this had a 150 degree wheel and wondered if there would be a benefit in using this to give a wider sweep. As you suggest 150 might be too much. I always find the wipers on my Mk 1 laughable. Any improvements to the sweep they provide as well as the possibilty of introducing 2 speeds would be a good thing. I am sure it can be done

Re: Wiper motor specs
I suspect that if you fitted a 150 cog and long enough wiper arms you would be able to wipe the headlamps at the same time!!!
