Body Dimensions

Post by 62Morris_Cooper »

Hi all,

I think the drivers side may have been jacked out at some point. I just need a bit of a sanity check before I start welding bits in place.

Can anyone please provide the dimensions between the top most seat belt mounting points on a mk1/2 shell?

Thanks in advance

I make it 41" side to side, at the higher mount position, ie ~2" down from the cant rail.

My body jig used to pickup the seatbelt mounts but after using it on 7/8 cars I noticed that depending on the car it could be tight, or loose and was not referenced to anything else I was attaching to. So use the measurement as a guide not an absolute. Best bet it to measure the seam that runs across the bottom of the door opening, as it will tell you if the boxed sill section has been damaged/ twisted.

I have 41 1/4

But will measure the seam at the floor over the weekend, I think it's somewhere near 50.35 inches, but will double check!!

What should it be?

I've been away and will check the lower mounting points tonight.

On the three cars i measured, the lower sill mounted seat belt captive nuts were between 50 and 50.5" apart.

All three have had complete floor replacements.
