We are going to run 12 inch rims on our vintage racer...anyone happen to have the circumference of a 12 slick???
Or, better still...have the link to a webpage for racing tires.
Cheers

Re: 12 inch tires
Please let me know if you find a 12" slick!!!
We're bound to use the Yoko A048R. Thay are the same diameter as a 165/70R10 tyre.

Here's one of our local Motorsport Tyre Suppliers
http://www.stuckey.com.au/products.aspx
and another
http://www.garysmotorsporttyres.com.au/ (however these guys are 'odd' to deal with)
but they don't list anything in 12", however it maybe worth emailing them and asking if they know of a distributor closer to you. It would also be worth emailing Dunlop Motorsport, Bridgestone, Yokoharma etc, surely someone does them.
I did have a look at another listing, but all that came up there was what Vergard has already suggested.
If I recall some of the 70's F1 cars used 12's on the fronts and it was from these that the Minis also got them. There are a few of these Historic Racers still about and they still have tyres on them!

Re: 12 inch tires
If I may ask ( since there is no info in your profile ) where are you located and when did vintage allow 12 s or slicks? After 24 years away from autocross my son Alex and I are talking about building a car strictly for autocross. I have a set of 12 X 6 mini lite knock offs with 165 Falkins mounted. I have at lease 10 of these tires with good tread. I have been replacing them with all weather Yoks. Once we get dialed in we will order a set of the dry Yoks. I also have all 10 inch TDs removed from out vintage car. I have found that bias and radial tires like different camber setting. Steve (CTR)

Re: 12 inch tires
In UK the 12" have a very limited tyre choice Yoko A048 are the most popular but only come in medium compound - Dunlop still do the CR65 race tyre but I have never seen a 12" slick of late - I had to move to 13" for my hillclimber but had it not been for the big calipers I would have gone with 10" as Dunlop do slicks for this size and the handling is good on 10's. I changed settings too as radials need neg camber - I ran 1.5 - 2 on front and 1 on rear now on crossply Avon slicks and 0 - .5 on front and 0 on rear as the x-ply like to sit flat on the tarmac to get best results - hope this is helpful JulianCooperTune wrote:If I may ask ( since there is no info in your profile ) where are you located and when did vintage allow 12 s or slicks? Re: 12 inch tires
As far as I know, no tyre manufacturer - at least no reputable manufacturer - produces a 12 inch slick any more.
In fact no European tyre manufacturers produce any 12 inch tyres these days.
If you intend running on slicks, revert to 10" where Dunlop have a choice of compounds in 160/490 - 10.
