, in the last fifty years of the car's life. My last (very original) '65 Mk1 S had later door handles on, they were fitted early in it's life. The number of solenoid spotters that used to point that out....Jesus....
Funnily enough when I modified the Hornet to high heaven I never heard anyone say "wrong engine, wrong speedo, wrong trim, etc etc"
Whilst looking at a really interesting and original (ie not just a chassis plate screwed to a 1960 Mini 850) Mk1 S at Bulee once, the miserable pedant next to me started tutting at the "wrong" parts (alternator etc). The fact that it was a really interesting original car with race history in it's original shell didn't seem to matter.
