Post by WNX700H »

Hi

Does anyone have a template of where to position the S on the Austin Cooper S badge on the boot lid of a MK1 Cooper S please.

Thanks

I can email you the template that I made from my boot if that helps.
It was made from the original bootlid.

If you pm me your email address I'll send it over.

Cheers

Simon,

Any chance of adding your template to the main MK1 site?

Sure, can I attach a pdf and if so where would you like it?

No guarantees with it, but I was happy with the results and as far as I'm aware it's correct.

Cheers

Hi Simon,

You can either post it here as an attachment or mail it to me direct (mark@the-forsters.co.uk) & I'll get it added to the site in the morning, with a credit to you of course.

Regards,

m

Template added as an attachment to this post, edited to add photo.

Feel free to move it if required.

Thanks

Simon
Here is a copy of the template that I made.

I found it easier to do this than try and measure as there are no easy points to measure from on a bootlid. I've put them on two A4 sheets so that you can print it, then stick them to some card.

These are the holes from my original bootlid, but note that the repro badges I had had very slightly different hole positions (probably crap manufacturing tolerances) so I had to tweak it slightly.

I bolted the template to the boot handle holes and lined the bottom of the template to the number plate recess. This worked well, see the attached picture of my boot to see where the badges end up. (Sorry, rubbish picture)

Cheers

Simon

BTW ,One thing I do remember when I looked at a spare boot lid I have is that the S is very slightly higher than the rest of the script.
