Lowered shocks or standard when running 10's

Converting my mk2 to dry and running 10" wheels very slightly lowered but not mad because of speed humps etc. Do I need lowered shocks or standard.

Personally id go lowered if your running old donuts if running new donuts go for standard

they are relatively new but cant see how that can make much difference? as I will be using hilos and lowered slightly. Could you explain why new or old donuts will make a difference?

I think he might be suggesting that old cones become somewhat compressed thereby lowering the car.

HiLos negate that concern... I have been running standard height Spax at a slightly reduced ride height (two fingers between wheel and arch) for years with no problems... (using 10" wheels).

My mate trawled through auto jummbles looking for the most compressed donuts just to lower his mini that bit more running 10s and about 6-8 mm tyre to arch gap rides horrid though

Lowered shocks are only required when there is a risk of bottoming the shock. They are thus hardly required on any practical road car.

Too long dampers are a bit stupid when lowering the car, going over a bump or a curb, and the entire suspension falls apart...

How low is too low for standard height shocks when running on 10" wheels?

You need to measure. Get your car to the height you want it, THEN get dampers. Or...Get dampers and then heighten the car until everything stays in place when jumping.
