That 997 is one of the nicest I have seen in a long time. I wonder where it will end up.

Mate of mine shipped a Porsche 912 over from California last year, it's not that difficult. What you might find when you collect the thing from the docks is quite another though. His 'rust free' shell turned out to be a total pig!

Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
Depends how you do it. If you pay a seller you don't know without any intermediary, then yes that's a gamble. I had someone I knew look at my car in L.A who didn't live that far away (well 2hrs away is like a next door neighbour in the U.S!) who struck up a dialogue before I made any payments. This car's in Georgia which is East Coast and not bad for shipping, road transport over there is dirt cheap as well. I had to pay full Vat on mine (you may just get away with 5% now?) and my total door to door costs (and there's lots) were about £1800 with Pheonix Cargo on a Ro-Ro, that was some years ago. A container is safer (the shippers/drivers dinged my floorless original bootlid on my car forcing the lid shut on to a displaced bootboard whilst trying to start the car!!) but more expensive unless you can share one..STG95F wrote:Its all massive Trust . That similarly rust free original Surf Blue 997 went pretty cheap last week.

Another 'S' to be re-incarnated?
Thought this wasn't supposed to happen.

It certainly needs a fair bit of welding, that's for sure. The inner wing looks almost completely shot...!'S'-type wrote:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CLASSIC-AUSTI ... 3f41396bd1

Ebay has got it's act together. No more used panties, no more sharp blades, no more serious lasers, no more nasty things.
However, car ringing kits are fine.

Reading that would suggest a car that uses a new (Heritage) body shell would be assigned a Q-Plate!!!!!!!!
The DVLAs favourite colour must be grey.

Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
Also reading this seems to suggest that if you use parts over 25 years old and what you end up with is an accurate representation of the marque, you get an age related plate. That doesn't seem as bad as a q plate.
So, what is an accurate representation of a Mk1 cooper s then? I know for a fact it's not a multipoint fuel injected, rubber mounted subframe, rod changing, internally hinged, thirteen inch wheeled, huge arched, wide back windowed thing with an air bag and side impact bars...
