3 synchro bits

Hi, I had a bit of a spring and ball moment when I was knocking the bearings off the mainshaft and I have found the plunger on the right 22G89 in the part cleaner along with the pin on the left which I am not sure where it came from. Anyone recognise it ?

Looks like a roller out of a bearing to me!

You could be right Graeme I think it could possibly have already been on the mesh in the cleaner.

Do not recognize the left item.
If the Box is of a very early Production the rh part can be from the inside of the 1st - 2nd gear syncro unit. If you look inside the unit see if it's a hole for it. Check if it fits.(think it was deleted on later types).

That's the 1st/2nd hub/synchroniser assembly.
The curved ended slug is called the "interlock plunger".

If you don't install it, it is said that you end up with smashed gears.
I've always installed it, so I can't confirm what destruction would
be caused if it was omitted.

In neutral the hub is free to slide on the main shaft when you select gear this pin holds the hub in place. I must confess I've never bothered to work out why they did this anybody have a clue?

The item on the left, the dowel pin with square cut ends... did/does this box perhaps have a reverse light switch added to the front like the ADO16 cars used? If the dowel is 3/16" in diameter and 1/2" long, it might be the plunger that goes into the gearbox before the ADO16 reverse light switch is screwed in.

The piece is 5/32" x 3/8". Thanks for the suggestions .I will be double checking everything as I re assemble. I am a bit held up at the moment as I need new springs for the synchro and a small operation to remove a ball bearing from my left nostril.

Those detents and springs sure are hard to find, once they've shot cross my shop and bounced off a few things. If I were smarter, I would use clear plastic sheeting and cover up ala 1860's photographers. That way when I bodged the hub/ring install, the parts would stay closer...
Owning the proper assembly fixture would take the fun out of it, of course.
