Steering Arm question

Hi there,
Can anyone confirm if Cooper steering arms (bolted to the top of the front swivel hubs) are the same as Cooper S? Were the Cooper ones lifted directly from the sibling drum brake cars?

Sounds like a fairly broad question I know.....but i have something buried in my mind that Cooper S (1275) steering arms are thicker and the resultant ackerman angle is even different between MK1 and MK2/(3)? Cooper S.

Well,,,,, simple enough question!

I'll also just point out that the steering rack and angle of the steering arms fitted to all Aust Manufactured Minis, including Cooper and Cooper S were the same as the UK MKI, from begining to end of production.

Refering to PUB1056M the short answer is they are the same as orinary Mini Arms. P/Ns (RH) BTA894 and (LH) BTA895. These are also the thicker Arms which were also fitted to the Cooper S, but not exclusively. With the Aust MKII Mini Van, (different car to the UK MKII) which would have come out about late 68, the steering arms it appears were locally made, P/Ns AYG4094 and AYG4095. These have the same angle as the earlier ones.

When the Deluxe was introduced, they had a different arm again, the RH one being P/N AYA4030, the LH Arm was same as the earlier cars (BTA895), with the introduction of the Mini K, the RH Arm went back to being a BTA894, LH arm unchanged (go figure).

The thicker Arms were also fitted to the Clubman Models from about 75 on and the Mokes from about the same time up to mid 80, around that time Mokes were fitted with the UK MKII Rack and Arms, though the racks were modified with lock stops.
