Was AJB 4B built around a Cooper S (ie does it have a Cooper S V5) or not? Anyone? A lot of work went into that.

Literally a mile up the road from me! Spends its days under a cover and has not moved a great deal at all! Looks nice though!

Were you there today or watching online?
I was tempted to bid up to £2K but £3520 inc premium just seems crazy for a rod change car. It was very original and only needed the outer sills doing and an 8 inch square section on the O/S inner sill but that money still seems crazy.
Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
I had a look online this afternoon. I almost went to have a look on Saturday and thought about registering to bid, but not at that price.
I might be tempted to bung my GT into auction, with how the auction market is, and see what happens.

I went down and bid on it and went over my maximum of 2500, I went to 2800 which I wasnt that comfortable with. But 3200 was crazy.
So I'm still searching for one!

This ones advertised again by same dealer. Is it my poor memory playing tricks on me or has the price gone up a grand or two in the last month.

I dont understand this? I understand that a heck of a lot of work went into this car and making it an exact replica, but its a replica??? is it really worth 45K? I really not being rude or trying to offend, i would just like to know?

All the cars there seemed to reach their upper estimate or more when the hammer went down. It was quite a busy auction and I think that was helped by it being attached to a car show.
Matthew the head of their classic car department it a very down to earth chap and seems to have an appreciation for both ends of the classic car market. I'm probably going to be putting my 1300 Countryman up for auction with them at their February sale.

Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
Only to someone who really wants a works replica, after all that's as genuine as 99% of the works Minis I've ever seen. My question was really about how it started life, if it started life as a Cooper S or a Cooper, just curious. A pal of mine has a works replica made from a Mk2 S (and was a very sound original Tartan Red car before the restoration) and it's way closer to the original than the actual car (if that makes sense??). Certainly a lot of work goes into a good one.minidean wrote:Pete wrote:Was AJB 4B built around a Cooper S (ie does it have a Cooper S V5) or not? Anyone? A lot of work went into that.
